On vacation in Vahrn

Protected from cold north winds Vahrn and the Monastery Neustift are situated in the valley of the Isarco near the bishop town Brixen. The hamlets and farms belonging to the "gate of the South" pull up far up in the mountains (until 2500 meters). The Valle Isarco, the Wipptal and the Schalderertal come together here in Varna. Wine and chestnuts thrive in the wind-shaped region as well as the high mountain flora of the Dolomites. In the recreational zones Lake Vahrn and Schaldererbach you find quitness. To be active in sports in the surrounding vineyards, the gently sloping hills and rugged rocks there are all sorts of possibilities. Vahrn, which has been for many years an important base on the way from the North to the South, is guarded by the Castle Salern (13th Century).
